DESKTOP: Sentiment Analysis Report

The Sentiment Analysis Report can be accessed through the Analysis dropdown within the top navigation.

The sentiment analysis report provides you with an overall read of the sentiment associated with an individual task.

Example Use Case: If you have a task containing a new ad concept, you want to get feedback from participants.  You can use this report to see if the overall reaction to the new ad concept is positive, neutral, or negative.

The sentiment scores are based on the following:

  • Desktop Screen Recordings transcriptions
  • Open-end text tasks via Desktop Screen Recordings
  • Open End follow-up text-based questions on Single Choice, Range, and Multiple Choice via Desktop Screen Recordings

Please note: App Only & Desktop + App projects have additional question types that utilize the sentiment analysis report.

If a participant adds multiple entries to a task, they will be averaged together so that the person is only counted once in both the individual and overall calculation for that task.

Filtering: Under the page name are the filtering options. You can only view one task at a time but the filtering options allow you to switch between tasks. When you get to the page for the first time, it will default to the first task.  You can also include External Participant Data (segments) in your filtering.  For instance, if you assign a gender variable of Male/Female to all participants, you can run a filter for: Task #1 + Males to display the Positive, Neutral, and Negative results for that task among Males only.

The large circled Positive, Neutral, and Negative scores toward the top of the screen are the overall scores associated with a specific task.  We have taken the individual scores, and put them in percentage form.

Example: If there are 3 total entries, one is scored positive, another is scored neutral, and the last is scored negative. The Percentages across the top would each display 33.33%.

Below the overall sentiment scores is a drop-down that allows you to filter and view the positive, neutral, and negative comments associated with that particular task.  Top positive entries will be listed from highest rating to lowest rating, while top negative will display the entries from most negative to least negative. The scores below the participant’s profile picture represent the sentiment score attached to their individual entry. The scores range from -1 to 1, with -1 being most negative, 0 being neutral, and 1 being most positive.
